ADVC (Advanced Curation) Collective acts as a platform for post-professional dancers to continue work in the studio and on stage, offering an opportunity to enjoy the process and performance of dance amongst fellow peers.
Each session has a curated choreographer and rehearses over the course of two months with a concluding performance.
We are proud to have shared the stage with over 35+ dancers, ages ranging from 27-70 years old.
ADVC Collective has a non-profit fiscal sponsorship through Fractured Atlas.
ADVC Collective was created in 2015 by Jamie Dowd, in response to the lack of opportunity for dancers who had moved passed their professional career. The intent of this collective is to bring dancers together, in every stage of their life.
Jamie is the co-founder of The Floor, a movement studio and community space in Brooklyn, NY. She was initially trained in ballet under Irina Kolpakova and Vladilen Semenov. Previously she has been the Director of Education for Dance New Amsterdam, Education Manager for Kane School/Kinected and has been teaching movement for over 20 years.
